Ford India enters alternate fuel segment with the launch of Ford Ikon Flair CNG

Today, 28th November 2006, Ford India announces the launch of the Ikon Flair CNG, a dual-fuel variant that can run both on petrol and Compressed Natural Gas [CNG]. With this launch, Ford India reaffirms its commitment to offer cleaner and more cost effective fuel options for its Indian consumers. Priced at Rs. 5.25 lakh* (ex showroom New Delhi), the Flair Ikon CNG will be initially available in Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Baroda and Ahmedabad.

The all new Ford Ikon Flair CNG has a fuel selection switch on the dashboard to enable the customer an easy switch between the two options. Offering cleaner emissions and immense savings on running costs, the Ikon Flair CNG will result in lower cost of ownership, making it an attractive product for the value discerning customer.

Approved by the Automotive Research Association of India [ARAI] in Pune, the CNG kit, which is manufactured by Shrimankar Gas Car Services Pvt Ltd, a Ford authorized supplier, is high on safety and will be installed by well trained technicians at Ford dealerships in CNG markets.

In the recent J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2006, Ford India's position strengthened in the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) to second position in the current year. Overall satisfaction in the survey was determined by utilizing seven key measures, including problems experienced; service quality; user-friendly service; service advisor; service initiation; service delivery and in-service experience.

The Ford Ikon, launched in 1999, is one of Ford India’s largest selling models. Ford has constantly kept the Ikon fresh and contemporary by launching new variants to meet the Indian consumer’s changing needs. In 2006, Ford India introduced the new 2006 Ford Ikon Flair with added youthful sporty features and a competitive price tag.
